Veel beroemde popfoto's uit de jaren zeventig zijn gemaakt door Mick Rock. Zo bepaalde hij grotendeels het imago van de legendarische Iggy Pop, David Bowie en Lou Reed met klassiek geworden platenhoezen: "Raw Power" van Iggy and the Stooges, "Transformer" van Lou Reed en David Bowie als Ziggy Stardust.Ook regisseerde hij videoclips, zoals voor Bowies 'Jean Genie' en 'Life on Mars'. Het was het tijdperk van de glamrock, maar ook van de punk – Rock legde The Sex Pistols en The Ramones vast – en bands als Queen, waarvoor Rock de albumcover van Queen II fotografeerde. Barnaby Clay interviewt Rock over zijn langdurende carrière en laat zien hoe de bijna zeventigjarige fotograaf orde probeert te scheppen in zijn omvangrijke archief, waar ongebruikt videomateriaal van Bowie wordt ontdekt.
